Selection procedure
In view of the institution’s limited enrolment capacity and the substantial number of applications received, which significantly exceeds the number of places available, the implementation of a formal selection process is required.
With reference to Article 2 of the Law of 13 May 2008 “portant création d’une Ecole préscolaire et primaire de recherche fondée sur la pédagogie inclusive”, all submitted applications will be reviewed by the “Commission mixte”, the competent body responsible for issuing decisions regarding admissions.
The selection procedure is guided by the following principles:
- Ensure that siblings are accepted as a priority as far as possible, both in terms of organisation and available capacity;
- Ensure a balanced representation of nationalities and socio-economic statuses, in order to reflect the diversity of the Luxembourg population;
- Ensure that priority is given to children residing in the City of Luxembourg, where the school is located;
- Ensure gender balance;
- Ensure, as far as possible, that two places per year are reserved for children from single-parent families;
- Ensure that at least 10% of the school population are children with special educational needs.
Admission decisions will be formally communicated to parents or legal guardians during the month of May, following the deliberations of the “Commission mixte”.
A waiting list will be established for each age group. In the event of withdrawals or the availability of additional places, supplementary admissions will be made in accordance with the order of the respective list. This list shall remain valid until the end of the academic year in question. Where no admission is granted, families will be required to submit a new application for subsequent school years.
